About the Adopt-a-Family Program
The Adopt-a-Family Program was started by a group of volunteers and recently formed the Community Fundraising Club just last year to increase accounting transparency.
Our team works with a local Yellowknife school to identify families and children in need and helps to provide them with Christmas gifts and groceries during the holiday season. Each child will receive four gifts, one they desire, need, a set of clothing and a book to read. The school provides the list of families and gift information and our team handles the fundraising and delivery of the gifts to the respective families.
We have seen a large increase of families in need this year, particularly with the affects of inflation on food and clothing, and have made efforts to get the community involved in helping fulfil these wishes this year. The Community Fundraising Club will be accepting donations until December 18th to ensure we are able to deliver the groceries and gifts to each family by Christmas.
